Martha Blackburn

Martha Blackburn is a Textile graduate from the Manchester School of Art. She completed the BA Textiles in Practice programme, graduating in 2016.
Martha specialises in drawing and embroidery and takes her inspiration from everyday life, people, objects and environments.
In particular, Martha's inspiration is taken from photography and the process involves capturing everyday moments with the camera, which are then developed through drawing and stitch. From this a conversation between drawing and stitch develops. As well as exploring the inter-relationship between drawn and stitched marks, Martha's practice uses portraiture, capturing lost moments in time, to reveal a powerful reflection of inner experience.
