Sophie Horrocks

Re-connected Space

Sophie is a keen experimenter, who uses materials as a medium to explore and understand the immaterial elements of our bodies and environments. She draws inspiration from all aspects of life; in particular sociology, nature and the human anatomy. She is a curious designer, who believes there are no boundaries to what we can classify as a textile. She has previously collaborated with biomaterial engineers and computer scientists in her quest to investigate the potentials of materials. Trained as a knitter, structure and form are crucial aspects of her technical process.

Sophie graduated with a First Class Degree in Textiles from Manchester School of Art and is currently based in Hong Kong working for The Fabrick Lab. She has previously worked for brands such as Sibling and Jimmy Choo. She was also selected to take part in the first Design Academy programme run by the Design Council in London.
