In these works, I have sought to utilise combustion as its own form of creation, in order to bring out the properties of crude, domestic materials, and show what they are capable of. Ultimately, everything is impermanent and devolving towards nothingness, and as things begin to break down, an absence of discernible form is replaced by a palpable presence felt through the delicate traces of existence left behind. Although some of these objects might be on the point of dematerialisation- extremely faint, fragile or desiccated, this, I believe, helps to convey a stronger sense of their own character, for the process of destruction and corrosion seems only to make their expression richer.
